Musik ist die Sprache der Seele. Sie benötigt keine Worte, um verstanden zu werden. Die Stücke des Duos “Diaz/Lorente” sind der klingende Beweis dafür. Gitarre und Bandoneon erzählen Geschichten, singen, klagen, jubilieren.
Die ereignisreiche Lebensgeschichte des Gitarristen Carlos Diaz hört man seinen Kompositionen an. Von den Wurzeln in Patagonien und der argentinischen Musiktradition, über die musikalische Prägung durch Rock, Jazz und Tango, bis zu seinem heutigen Zuhause in Deutschland: Ein Leben voller Reisen und Musik, voller Abenteuer und Erinnerungen. Der ebenfalls weltgewandte Bandoneonist Lorente weiß dies durch sein Spiel perfekt zu vertiefen.
Manche Kompositionen auf dem Album stammen noch aus Diaz’ Jugend, andere wieder sind brandneu. Alle haben eines gemeinsam. Sie transportieren Positivität, unbeirrbare Lebenslust. In den stärksten Momenten euphorisch jubelnd und selbst an traurigen Stellen eher bittersüß als hoffnungslos und deprimierend.
“Diaz/Lorente” gelingt es, mit ihrer Musik diese hoffnungsvolle Positivität zu übermitteln: Ob man zum Tanzen oder zum Kopfnicken angeregt wird, ob man Gänsehaut bekommt oder ob das Herz schneller schlägt: Die Musik berührt die Seele – ganz ohne Worte.

With a versatile sound that breathes tango, Bandoenoist Lorente can perfectly elaborate on this in his playing by drawing from his own remarkable biography and musical upbringing.
Some compositions on the album were written in Diaz’ youth, while others are brand new. They all have one thing in common: They carry positivity, an unwavering lust for life. They can be euphorically jubilant and even at sad moments they are more bittersweet than hopelessly depressing.
“Diaz/Lorente” are able to convey this hopeful positivity with their music. Regardless if it inspires to dance or move, if it causes goosebumps or the heart to beat faster: the music touches the soul – no words needed.

Die ereignisreiche Lebensgeschichte des Gitarristen Carlos Diaz (* 1959 in Rio Gallegos, Argentinien) ist seinen Kompositionen anzuhören: Er stammt aus Patagonien und ist daher eng mit der südamerikanischen Musiktradition verbunden. Er wuchs aber auch mit einer Liebe zu Jazz, Blues und vor allem Rock auf. In den Achtziger Jahren war er Teil von „Proyección Folklorica“. Diese Bewegung verband argentinische Volksmusik mit Jazz und moderner Musik.
Seit 1997 lebt Carlos Diaz in Deutschland. Zu seinen Projekten zählen „Patagon Patagonia Project“ (mit Dirk van Esbroeck), „The Birth of Music“ (eine ethnoklassische Symphonie von Dirk Brosse), CD "El Encuentro" mit Juan Masondo und Koen de Kauter, CD "Tan sensible" Zapatango (ein Tango- und Jazzquintett) mit Bart Van Caenegem, Piet Verbist, I. Kneut, Philippe Thuriot und seit 2013 ein Duo-Projekt mit Pato Lorente. 2021 veröffentlichten Diaz / Lorente y mas ihr erstes Album "miLoca"
Guitarist Carlos Diaz (* 1959 in Rio Gallegos, Argentina) has an eventful biography. You can hear it in his compositions: He hails from Patagonia and is therefore closely linked to the South American musical tradition. But he also grew up with a love for jazz, blues and especially rock music. In the eighties he was part of "Proyección Folklorica". This movement combined Argentinean folk music with jazz and modern music.
Since 1997, Carlos Diaz has been living in Germany. His projects include "Patagon Patagonia Project" (with Dirk van Esbroeck), "The Birth of Music" (an ethnoclassical symphony by Dirk Brosse), CD “El Encuentro” with Juan Masondo and Koen de Couter, CD “Tan Sensible”, Zapatango (a tango and jazz quintet) with Bart Van Caenegem, Piet Verbist, I.Kneut, Philippe Thuriot and since 2013 start a project with Pato Lorente. Für den Belgier Pato Lorente (Patrick Vankeirsbilck) sind Leben und Musik untrennbar miteinander verbunden. Er arbeitete 18 Jahre lang mit seinem Lehrer, dem legendären argentinischen Bandoneonisten Alfredo Marcucci, in ganz Europa zusammen. Während seiner vielen Reisen nach Buenos Aires und Montevideo bildete er sich weiter bei Julio Pane und Carlos Pazo.
Pato lebt und arbeitet im Schmelztiegel von Brüssel und konzentriert sich mit seinem Ensemble „Tango 02“ hauptsächlich auf Tangomusik aus der Region Rio de la Plata, aber unternimmt regelmäßig musikalische Exkursionen in andere Genres wie Klassik oder Jazz..
Außerdem unterrichtet er Bandoneon am Vlaamse Deeltijds Kunstonderwijs.
For the Belgian Pato Lorente (Patrick Vankeirsbilck) life and music are inseparable. For 18 years he has worked across Europe with his teacher, the legendary Argentine bandoneonist Alfredo Marcucci. During his many trips to Buenos Aires and Montevideo, he continued his education with Julio Pane and Carlos Pazo.
Pato lives and works in the melting pot of Brussels and focuses mainly on tango music from the Rio de la Plata region with his ensemble "Tango 02", but regularly undertakes musical excursions into other genres such as classical music or jazz and teaches bandoneon at the Vlaamse Deeltijds Kunstonderwijs.
