There are two hearts beating under the chest of Argentinian guitarist Carlos Diaz (*1959 in Rio Gallegos): On the one hand he is a child of his home Patagonia and its South-American musical tradition. On the other hand he is a part of a generation that grew up with jazz, blues and especially rock music. These two heartbeats form a musical foundation, a sort of rhythm, that can at all times be found in Diaz’s work.

One guitar, ten fingers and two hearts is more than enough to be a guitarist, one might think. But Carlos Diaz surprises with ever changing elements, ideas and compositions; with playing the cajon and with loops that he creates live. Playfully and with apparent ease, he mixes these elements and his musical roots to create his own, indistinguishable style.

That style, his talent and creativity can be heard in his solo work as well as the many collaborative projects he is a part of.

Without unnecessary effects or elements of show, his infectious playing is always rooted in a place of love for his instrument and for music itself.
